The Maritime Transport Training Institute (MATRAIN) was officially launched on 22 June 2009 and is located in Pulau Indah, Selangor.
MATRAIN was established as a training centre for Malaysia Marine Department personnel, government agencies, and private-sector organisations directly involved in the maritime industry. MATRAIN is a key component in realising the Malaysia Marine Department's aspiration to produce knowledgeable, competent, and highly skilled personnel.
MATRAIN's sole objective is to conduct training and research in the field of maritime transport.
MATRAIN is also one of the Public Training Institutes (ILA) that offers facility rentals to government agencies and private entities under the Government Facility Booking System Project (MyTC), led by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) and the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), in accordance with the established rental rates.
