Safety Of Navigation And Maritime Communication Division
Objective
To determine an efficient, effective and safe navigation system within Malaysian waters. To coordinate and combat oil spillage from ships in order to mitigate marine environmental pollution.
Functions
Planning and regulating Maritime Safety and Communication systems.
Planning, drafting and reviewing cooperation and bilateral relations with foreign countries in the field of navigation security.
Formulate and drive studies and assessments of navigation safety, infrastructure requirements including navigation aids from time to time.
Activities
Carry out risk analysis studies and assessments related to navigation safety, maritime communication systems and hydrographic survey requirements.
Attend consultative meetings domestically and internationally at ASEAN, IALA, IHO and IMO levels.
Covering the Master Committee of Vessel Traffic Services Competent Authority, Tripartite Technical Expert Group (TTEG), Cooperative Merchanism including Aids To Navigations Funds.
