Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) is an area where navigational rules for ships have been established. Each TSS designates specific routes to ensure that ships sailing in the area follow the same direction.

SPK biasanya ditetapkan di kawasan di mana terdapat pergerakan kapal yang banyak dalam arah yang berlainan dan menyebabkan risiko perlanggaran amat tinggi. Maklumat bagi SPK dan sistem laluan ini boleh diperoleh dalam carta Armiralty.

• Merujuk kepada keputusan mesyuarat 18th Tripartite Technical Expert Group (TTEG) yang telah dijalankan di Kuala Lumpur pada tahun 1993 bagi mengkaji sistem laluan kapal sedia ada, satu kumpulan kerja TTEG telah diwujudkan;
• In 1994, the proposal was approved by the Littoral States and was to be submitted by Malaysia to the IMO at the 41st Navigation Safety Session;
• Approved at the IMO, Sub-Com on Safety of Navigation on the 43rd Session – May 1998;
• Adopted at the IMO, Maritime Safety Com 69th Session on 26th May 1998 SN/Circ.201;
• Came into effect at 0000 Hours UTC, 1st December 1998.
